This is a classic, 1978 930 3.5 liter Turbo
Coupe for sale. This car has spent the majority of its life
in Arizona. The exterior is a "paint to sample/99", very
good looking, light blue-ish color. The interior is black
leather. There are some small paint chips in several areas,
such as on the passenger side rear quarter panel. All four
wheel arches have some damage from being over-clearanced for
tires. (please see photo).
At 35K miles, the engine was rebuilt. The
engine displacement went from the standard 3.3 liter to a
3.5 liter displacement. The engine was balanced, ported and
polished, and had SC cams installed. A variable boost
control was added under the drivers seat. This resulted in a
engine which is smooth, responsive and explosively
powerful. The clock was removed and a turbo 3-atm boost
gauge installed. An inter-cooler in/out digital temperature
gauge was also installed.
This car has a Bilstein sport suspension
which was recently rebuilt. The clutch has also been
recently replaced. Heavy torsion bars were added and the car
was lowered slightly at the time of the engine rebuild. The
air conditioning system was tweaked with the addition of an
undercarriage static condenser. There are new fuel and oil
lines in the engine compartment, a K & N airbox, and new
tires on the rear of the vehicle.
The interior of the car is also performance
oriented. The car came from Germany with the following
options installed: roll bar, a set of Cibie driving lights
on the hood, sport seats with racing harnesses and a
Bilstein sport suspension. We believe that these options
were installed by Porsche at Weissach. The drivers seat
does have an area of wear with the leather and underlying
foam partially missing.
This car has a rare "sunroof delete" which
results in a vehicle perfect for persons of above average
height seeking a comfortable ride or track use.
